Report: Kudrin says Russian economy can reach 4% growth by 2021

MOSCOW, Dec 30 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy can expand 4% by 2021, Alexei Kudrin, a former finance minister and head of the Center for Strategic Research, told channel Rossiya 24 in an interview broadcast late on Thursday.

“We can attain a level of more than 3% already in 2019 and reach a level of 4% by 2021 or 2022,” Kudrin said.

“The Russian economy is gradually leaving the negative growth pace. We will most likely have a positive, a marginal but positive growth rate in the beginning of the next year.”

According to the official, higher investor interest to Russia is not ruled out in this situation although so far the economy attracts only speculative investors. “No sustainable, long-term interest to the Russian market has emerged so far because we still have problems with the oil price volatility, it is not stable… It will depend on many agreements or non-fulfillment of agreements.”
